Then they started this subscription bs, which really turned me off. And if the app is still very buggy after years in service, then it wouldn't be worth the price to begin with. Most of the development cost is incurred at the beginning, maintaining it doesn't require a team of 100 developers who need to charge to this project 100% of the time. If it's good, new customers will come constantly who'll pay for it but it doesn't mean you should keep paying them $10/y to maintain it. This is about the paid app, I saw they offered a free version, ad free, which is nice of them but every company wanting a recurrent payment from every game or app they make is ridiculous. Maybe you, should read what's this post is about before complaining about my complaint. It's better than the app never being updated and being a buggy mess. Maybe read a little before you start complaining?Īnd what's wrong with a subscription service anyway? Developers need to be paid to maintain the app. And it's an incredible (and ad free) app on top of that. Honestly, I really don't even use the premium features and definitely don't use the cloud space, but I find for ~$10 a year or whatever it works out to I'd like to support the developer to keep maintaining what I consider to be a great app.Īnyway, upvote for a decent deal if people want to try premium.

But I've been paying the yearly subscription for 3 years now and never had any issues with the app. Hard to say, personal preference for all. The developers do need a steady income to continue development. This maybe should be a one time purchase, though I do understand the subscription model. That said, I somewhat agree with NoCountry4RFDer above. There are other podcasts that have these features as well, so definitely feel free to look around for them if you'd like (Overcast comes to mind as well), but I've used PocketCasts for years now across platforms (Android, Windows, Linux, iOS, iPadOS and macOS) and it's consistent across the board. I listen to hours of podcasts a day and it has several features I love (trimming silence being the best one, different levels for whether you want empty space sped up or cut completely basically). This is my favourite podcast app by far (iOS and macOS).
